Need a little help changing the world?

Compassion + competency = success.
Andrew Cuomo

You and your team are passionate, compassionate, and working tirelessly.

You are likely an expert on your cause, but maybe not an expert on connecting with or persuading decision makers.

Most people do not know how to engage government well.
I do it almost every day, on behalf of multiple organizations on multiple issues.

My work is dedicated to showing passionate non-profit organizations (like yours) how to achieve the changes you seek in public policy or social behaviour.

What's a Campaign?

noun. A complete, planned course of action formulated to achieve defined objectives.

There are lots of different types of campaigns, from election campaigns to fundraising campaigns, to campaigns for social or policy change.

I do the social and policy change kind.
  • Sometimes a campaign involves media and petitions and mailers to send Members of Parliament or the local Business Association a message.
  • Sometimes it's just organizing a series of letters to the right politicians and bureaucrats.
  • Sometimes an event is the best way to get your audience's attention.
  • And no matter what tactic you choose, your message needs to be at the intersection of what you want done and what your audience is motivated by.

But how can you know which one will get the
best results for your cause?

Your organization doesn't have a lot of extra time or resources to muck around experimenting on what might work.
And if your organization is soaking up valuable philanthropic resources, you have a responsibility to be delivering results.

Introducing...
The Confident Campaigning Service Suite

Finally, a suite of services to help those in the non-profit sector campaign for change with confidence, and at a price point that you can feel good about.

Having worked with multiple non-profits, I understand working with a board, working with volunteers, and working with limited capacity and budget.

Investing with me in the strategy and messaging stage now will help you get the most out of your campaign budget, and I share tools and tactics that are cost effective. I can help you develop a strategy for your advocacy work and/or a political engagement strategy, craft a message targeted to your audience, create and implement an effective advocacy campaign, and also identify opportunities to collaborate with others who share your goals.

Let's face it, the most expensive way to plan a campaign is to not to...to just jump in with the tactic-of-the-month without a plan to back it up.
Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.

The Confident Campaigning
Concierge

Clients who have had the CC Consult or already have their CC Blueprint can pick and choose from a secret menu of services to support your campaign.

It wouldn't be very secret if I listed everything here, but it includes:
  • Whiteboard or Animated "Explainer" Videos
  • Letter writing
  • Infographics
  • Advocacy Event Set-up
...and more.

Confident Campaigning Concierge Services are only available to clients who have done the CC Consult or the CC Blueprint. And they are more affordable than you think.

A select few CC Consult and CC Blueprint clients may be a good fit for an ongoing support package to implement their campaign or ongoing advocacy work as well. This service starts at $900/month for a minimum of 3 months.
Let's kick that campaign up a notch.

I'm interested in working with:

  • Advocacy networks.
  • Patient groups.
  • Coalitions addressing affordable housing, poverty reduction, or the rights of vulnerable populations.
  • Nonprofits that need to ask the government for something.

Your Confident Campaigning Guide

I'm Jennifer van Gennip. I have always cheered for the underdog and stood up for the little guy. I have worked on campaigns for affordable housing and poverty reduction initiatives, helped open a house for women transitioning out of the local women's shelter, ran awareness events for the local Down syndrome association, and advocated for music education in our school system.

I have authored government consultation submissions on Basic Income and on the Palliative Care needs of those with intellectual disabilities, organized a breakfast for MPPs at Ontario's Provincial Parliament to educate them about hepatitis C, successfully advocated for changes to provincial daycare regulations, designed social media toolkits for advocacy coalitions, helped launch Simcoe County's Living Wage campaign, planned successful all-candidates debates and accountability assemblies focused on social justice topics, revamped advocacy websites, started Parliamentary Petitions, and set up multiple advocacy workshops, conferences, and strategy sessions for clients.

I run the communications and projects of two national advocacy networks, working with all three levels of government. And I'd love to share what I have learned about what works and what doesn't with you, to make sure you get the results you want.
